7-25-09: Hopefully now all the computer/internet problems are straightened out. Bald Beaver Charters fished every day since last report, with the exception of a little 3-day get away for the wife and I, with a literal rollercoaster of results each trip. We have had catches that have ranged from 6 fish to 26 fish, for an average of 13 fish per trip since last report. At times in the past few weeks it seemed as though we were fishing the dead sea, then the next day a good to excellent catch would result. Somewhat of a strange year in the respect that there has been no consistent pattern to the bite from day to day. We have fished a wide variety of depths as well as which direction(north, south, or straight east) out of Two Rivers. The one thing that has been consistent is the fact that we have had to maintain a hard work ethic on working lines, changing baits and presentations to continue to help keep our customers arms a little sore when they leave us each and every day. The bite as of the past few days has been good to excellent once again. Water temps are ranging from the mid to upper 50's which is a real nice temp for the salmon. Hopefully things will now continue to hold this good to excellent rating as we move through the ramainder of July and into August. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!

7-8-09: Appoligies for the lack of reporting recently as well as updated picures, as computer problems have rendered me unable to access my web account. But,.... Bald Beaver Charters has fished each day since last report, and for the most part the fishing has been good to very good. We have averaged just better than 16 fish per trip with a gangbuster catch of 28 Kings just a few days ago. We have been mainly fishing 70-100 feet of water from south of Manitowoc to north of Two Rivers. Yes quite a range of distance, but water temps have been holding in the mid to upper 50's pretty much everywhere in this depth range, and it is holding fish. Staying away from major boat traffic has been key to maintaining a good bite through out the morning. The summer pattern has really become evident recently as well as the early bite has been awesome and then things slow down after 6-7 in the morning. Our best baits and presentations have been dodger and fly set-ups run on the down riggers and pumphandles. Green, chartreuse, and white colored dodgers tipped with green and aqua flies have been the top producers. Riggers run 50-80 down and the pumps set 12-20 passes with 8-16 ounce weights. We also have been getting a few bonus rainbows off the surface high lines running spoons with some orange combination to it.

Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!

6-23-09: Fishing on Lake Michigan out of Two Rivers has been pretty good for customers onboard Bald Beaver Charters. We worked hard in boating 114 fish since last report, good for just over 14 fish per trip average, while running 8 chartered trips in the last 7 days. The best bite has been during the morning trips, while our lone afternoon trip in the last week producing a meager 4 fish catch. Water surface temps are now rising into the lower 60's, and the fish are beginning to slide into that familiar summer pattern.

During the most recent stretch we have been fishing mainly deeper water, 70-250 feet, working an east/west pattern on most days. The bites are coming all over the water column from the surface to 150 feet down on the riggers. Surface lines with greens, oranges, and chartreuse colors have produced some nice rainbows and cohos. Dipsey divers have been on again and then off again. The riggers and the pumphandles have been our best presentations. Dodgers and flies in greens, blues, whites, and chartreuse have all produced well run 80-150 feet down on the riggers and 12-20 passes back on the pumphandles with 8-20 ounces of lead. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!

6-16-09: Fishing on Lake Michigan out of Two Rivers onboard Bald Beaver Charters could be rated as a bit slow at times to good since last report. Bald Beaver has made 8 trips since last report with at times a wide range of results with a range of 6 fish to 16 fish per trip. We have boated a total of 87 fish for an 11 fish per trip average over the most recent stretch. Our catch has consisted of a mixed bag of Kings, Cohos, Rainbows, and some Lakers. Water temps are beginning to warm into the low 50's, but some very cold 44-45 degree pockets of water still loom around.

We have been fishing a wide range of water from south of Manitowoc to north of Two Rivers with depths ranging from 60-300 feet of water. The fish are scattered about from north to south and are staggered about at many different depth ranges in the water column. Really no pattern to the "bite" as of now. Cool water temps are the culprit here. Our best set-ups and baits have also been ranging in color and actual style as well from day to day. One day it will be the deep riggers producing well and the next day it is the surface lines,.... again no pattern. A guy needs to really be willing and ready to work their lines hard changing the color patterns as well as the particular set-up in the water column to be successfull right now. Patterns to the bite should begin to show themselves as we move forward with some warmer more summer like weather. Until then be willing to work the lines until a bite pattern for the particular day can be established. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!

6-7-09: Fishing onboard Bald Beaver Charters since last report could be rated as good to a tad bit on the slow side for the big lake and pretty good earlier this past week on the Walleyes. The Lake Michigan side of things has showed some decent progress since last report. We have begun to see some salmon showing up as well as waters warming a little. Water temps now range from 46-50 degrees most everywhere we have fished. These water temps are somewhat cooler than normal and are contributing to a slower than normal "bite". We have been averaging 8-9 fish per trip in the most recent stretch with some very robust Kings comprising our catch. Warmer less windy weather is needed to allow water temps to warm and attract the salmon in bigger numbers into the Manitowoc and Two Rivers area. We have mainly been fishing in 50-90 feet of water straight out and a little to the north of town. Best set-ups/baits have been green and blue colored spooons run on the dipseys 6-10 passes back. Our pumphandles have also begun producing well running dodger/fly combos in greens, blues and white combinations. Again warmer conditions will be the key to things really taking off.

The Walleye action still remains good, fishing on the lower Bay of Green Bay this past week. Our best action was fishing in 6-10 feet of water pulling harnesses. Purple and gold colored blades were our best colors with trolling speed of 1.2 to 1.4 mph paying out 25-40 feet behind the boards. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!

5-26-09: Fishing on Lake Michigan out of Two Rivers remains a little on the slow side. Bald Beaver Charters made set out on a few "scouting-trips" as well as 1 chartered trip since last report with slower then "hoped" results. Cool and windy conditions have persisted through this recent holiday weekend keeping water temps 6-8 degrees lower than normal for this time of year. Our search for salmon produced nothing for results and we found ourselves in search of trying our luck at fishing for Lake Trout.

Yes,... this means bouncing bottom with 12-16 ounce weights with cowbell and metal dodger/fly set-ups. We fished some of our springtime lake trout spots south of Manitowoc in 60-70 feet of water. Each trip down there produced a 4 fish per trip average while going 4 for 6 and 4 for 9 respectively. Rough and windy conditions each of those trips made it a tad bit more difficult to run our gear, and things would have most certainly turned out better with calmer conditions. Warmer, more stabble, less windy weather is needed before we will begin seeing our salmon show up. Cross your fingers it happens soon.

Action on the Walleyes continues to be good on both Lake Winnebago and the Bay of Green Bay. We were able to boat good numbers on plastics as well as harnesses while fishing in 6-12 feet of water. No particular color was a stand out, but purples, greens and golds seemed to produce best for us. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!

5-13-09: The fishing fever is now running wild!!! The "Big-Water" season in now underway onboard Bald Beaver Charters on Lake Michigan out of Two Rivers. After a long and drawn out winter, followed by a cold, windy and wet spring, we finally got the "Big-Beaver" launched and back in action for 2009, all-beit 3-4 weeks later than in years past. This past Monday we took the maiden voyage for the year and got into fish right away. We fished the shallow waters along the harbor front in search of some browns. Spoons and stick baits on the highlines and dipseys worked best for us.

Prior to the lauching of the "Big-Beaver", Bald Beaver Charters has expanded it's services and is now offering Guided Walleye trips on Lake Winnebago, The Bay of Green Bay, and the Fox River. We added a 17.5 foot Walleye boat to the family and are up and running, fully rigged and able to provide a quality Walleye fishing experience for those who are interested.

Our spring time Walleye trips this year have proved to be action packed featuring numerous limit catches, a live well full of those "tasty" 16-20 inch Walleyes for the dinner plate as well as releasing numreous fish in the 21-26 inch class. Our Walleye trips have been splitting time between Bay of Green Bay and Lake Winnebago, fishing the shallows, 6-10 feet of water.

See you on the water. Good Luck and Good Fishing !!!
